A service that puts your site on the internet — you hand over the code and it builds and publishes it for you. Every change gets its own address, so you can send a colleague a link to a preview of a branch before anything goes live. Pages come from servers close to the visitors, which is why they load fast. It's the easy default for a frontend project; a heavier backend eventually asks for setup of your own.
